Woodworm can easily cause structural damage to timbers if isn’t dealt with in time.In this instance you can see woodworm has destroyed the floorboards with a very heavy infestation. The floorboards were beyond treatment and had to all be replaced. Woodworm need moisture to survive, and suspended timber floor can provide enough moisture for these beetle to survive and colonise timbers. You need to ensure you have adequate sub floor ventilation, and a dry as possible suspended timber floor void. What I often find also is that the floors with woodworm also have drainage defects, which contribute moisture issues to the void. If in doubt we can help with a woodworm survey, woodwind treatment if essential, along with CCTV drain survey to ensure no drainage defects are also contributing issues in regards to damp.
